About Spit Spot
Established in 2004, our aim is to offer drama activities to
all age groups as a medium for wider learning. We believe that
a practical, hands-on approach to teaching and learning is particularly
beneficial, especially for young children. Through our workshops
we aim to achieve a number of general learning outcomes:
- Promoting self-esteem and confidence in one’s ideas
- Developing speaking and listening skills
- Encouraging team-work, co-operation and respect amongst peers.
- Create a relaxed and enjoyable medium through which students
feel comfortable in expressing their thoughts and in contributing
to projects.
Workshops
We offer drama workshops for participants of all ages and abilities.
We tailor the sessions to mee the need and requirements of individual
groups. With advanced notification we can develop a workshop based
on any issue, subject, theme or curriculum topic. For all school's
workshops we look to ensure the content meets learning requirements.
Workshop sessions usually last between 1 and 2 hours, but can
be shortened or extended where necessary.
PPA Cover
We are available to cover your PPA sessions for half term or
termly periods. We work with each class on a different drama project.
The projects can be linked to the school curriculum, encouraging
pupils to use their classroom knowledge while building on their
speaking and listening, concentration and co-operation skills.
Recent examples include Narnia, Roald Dahl, The Lighthouse Keeper's
Lunch, Under the Sea, Journey's, Mime and Movement, Bullying and
PSHE: Perseverance.
School Productions
Spit Spot Theatre have a wide experience of working with school
casts to put the finishing touches on their school productions.
We look at performance and staging skills, in addition to developing
characterisiation and vocal techniques. Children benefit from
having trained professionals view their work and give them constructive
feedback. We are also available for longer periods of time to
direct entire productions.
