Courses

The following course are available as an entire pacjage to schools, associations, societies and youth groups. The event organisers are responsible for recruiting course members and providing a suitabel venue.

Fencing

***Ideal for a term-time after-school club***

Spit Spot Theatre offer children's fencing classes for children aged 6-10 years. Using specialist children's equipment designed by the British Fencing Association, the course is an ideal introduction to the sport for young children. Throughout the course the children learn the basic rules of fencing, come to understand the importance of respect for their opponents, develop their confidence and work to developm their presonal fitness.

Media Course (For Adult Learners)

During this coures, participants learn about teh film making process form deciding on the initial concept to editing the final piece. Working with a professional film maker the group create their own DVD documentary and take turns in front and behind the camera, writing scripts, operating microphones and recording equipment, researching locations and putting the recorded footage together. At the end of the course the group work together to host a premier of their fillm for invited guests.

Stage Combat Classes (Age 8 - Adult)

An introductory course in stage combat. We teach performers how to develop and enact safe, convincing fight sequences that can be built into productions. The classes can either follow a generic programme in which students are taught basic moves and are then encouraged to develop their own combat display, or they can be structured to work on sequences to be used in specific productions. Due to the nature of these classes, we recommend that no more than 20 participants are present at any one time.

Swordplay

Using safe, foam equipment we teach the basic swordplay techniques. This is an ideal companion to the stage combat class and has proves to be extremely popular with youth theatre groups looking to increase their performance techniques.

Please note; We do not offer swordplay classes using metal foils.

French (Age 6+)

Teaching a second language in primary school is becoming increasingly popular. Spit Spot Theatre is able to teach beginner's French lessons to children aged 6 and upwards.

We also run teacher training courses in the language for staff who would like to use French in their classroom.
